While there is still no official word from the Cohen camp, Leonard is reportedly donating 100% of the proceeds of his concert in Tel Aviv to various pro-Palestinian and pro-peace organisations.
What do you think? A good move, or will nothing short of a full boycott suffice? Use the blog comments facility, or discuss this on the Facebook group.

So not only is Cohen defying the boycott, he's fundraising for futile "consensus-building" projects that are counterposed to the boycott.
ReplyDeleteCohen continues to pose as a liberal humanitarian, while giving aid and comfort to the Israelis in their oppression of the Palestinians.
Cohen should be boycotted everywhere in the world he performs, until he gets the message.
I broadly agree Jeff. He should not perform in Israel and this move endangers and dilutes the boycott efforts. However let's not be too hard on him, I think he is basically a good-hearted man if misguided on this issue.
ReplyDeletehe's definitely acting like a soft zionist.. anyone working at BMI care to tell us how much he would make on performance royalties for the Tel Aviv show?
